Learn to Skate | Tots to Adults/Home School
Learn to Skate Program
Open to all boys and girls ages 3 and above, beginner thru advanced. Special adult classes available. Classes are held on Saturdays and include a 30 minute supervised practice area along with a 25 minute group lesson. Special groups for beginners. Hockey skaters minimum of 5 to start. Private lessons available.
Each lesson runs for 8 weeks. Teachers will be available after classes to speak to you regarding your child’s progress.
On the first day of each session and every week after, skaters are asked to check in at the desk in the lobby and give your name. All skaters must become members of the USFSA Basic Skills Program.
Group placement is made according to age and ability. The first lesson of each session includes the evaluation of skaters ability, arranging of classes, and the proper placement of skaters. Some changes in placement may also be made during a session as needed.
Teachers will be at the class locations and at the gate to assist those who need it.
Make-Up Sessions
Only if the ice rink cancels due to bad weather or schedule change. If make-up class is needed, days other than Saturday may be used. No make-ups will be given for reasons other than those stated above.
Equipment
Properly fitted skates with single runners are required along with hats and mittens for safety and warmth. Helmets are optional but suggested for young children. Snowsuits and snowpants are NOT RECOMMENDED as they are extremely slippery when in contact with the ice.
